LIFX Lightstrip Colour Zones

The LIFX Lightstrip Colour Zones divides the strip into independently controlled sections. A 6.6 ft kit carries 16 colour zones, so the strip can show a gradient, a chase or several separate colours at once rather than one flat colour along its length.

It also covers a wide white range, roughly 1500 K to 9000 K, so the same strip works as warm accent lighting in the evening and as cool task lighting under a kitchen cabinet.

What works in Apple Home

• Turn the light on and off, and set brightness, colour and white temperature.
• Group it into rooms and zones alongside the rest of your lighting.
• Use it in scenes and automations, and control it with Siri.

Apple Home controls the strip as one light. The per-zone effects live in the LIFX app.

Connectivity

LIFX bulbs join your Wi-Fi network directly. There is no bridge to buy, no hub to power and no spare Ethernet port to find, which is the main practical difference between LIFX and bridge-based systems such as Philips Hue.

Before you buy

The strip can be cut to length and extended, so measure the run first and buy the extension you need at the same time. Colours and effects spread across the zones you actually have, so a longer run of the same kit gives a coarser gradient.

If you only ever want one colour at a time, the plain LIFX Lightstrip costs less and does that job.
