LG Video Doorbell Wired (Apple Home Collection)

The LG Video Doorbell Wired is part of the Apple Home Collection. LG makes it and Apple sells it, at apple.com/uk/store, in the Apple Store app and in Apple Store locations. Apple’s UK price starts at £229.95, in Essence Graphite or Essence Silver.

You set it up with a single tap of an iPhone, and Apple says there is “no additional app to download and no separate account to create”. The pairing uses NFC and needs an iPhone running the latest software.

What it does in Apple Home

It has two cameras, one for visitors and one for packages. The front camera records at 2.5K and the bottom camera at full HD, and you can switch between the two views in the Home app.

There is a built-in spotlight, and the chime plays through a HomeView, HomePod or HomePod mini.

Apple says every camera in the collection recognises people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages, and keeps recording to built-in storage if the Wi-Fi goes down. Every Home Collection device also supports Thread, which Apple says helps it stay connected when Wi-Fi drops, and each one updates its own network details if you change your Wi-Fi.

You need a home hub

Plan on a home hub. The two companies word it differently:

  • LG: “Use of the new IoT products requires an Apple home hub, like HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K or Apple HomeView.”
  • Apple: “Additional features vary by accessory and require a compatible home hub such as Apple HomeView, HomePod or Apple TV.”

Either way, the camera features (recording, recognition and video history) depend on one. Apple describes the cameras as a way to monitor your home “when using a home hub”. The current hubs are Apple HomeView, HomePod mini 2, HomePod (2nd generation) and Apple TV 4K (4th generation).

Recording needs iCloud+

The doorbell supports HomeKit Secure Video, so recordings go to your iCloud+ plan. There is no separate camera subscription. Apple says footage is processed on your home hub or in Private Cloud Compute, then stored encrypted in iCloud for 10 days. The video does not count against your iCloud storage.

The plan sets how many cameras can record:

iCloud+ plan (UK)PriceCameras
50GB£0.99 a month1
200GB£2.99 a monthUp to 5
2TB£8.99 a monthUnlimited
6TB£26.99 a monthUnlimited
12TB£54.99 a monthUnlimited

Apple counts the doorbell as one of LG’s four cameras, so it takes a camera place on your plan. If the 50GB plan already covers another camera, you need the 200GB plan or larger.

Apple’s newer video features, such as summaries of what happened and search by description, need an Apple Intelligence iPhone or iPad, an eligible iCloud+ plan and a hub on the latest software. Apple says they work on “a limited number of cameras” depending on the plan, and gives no numbers.

When it arrives in the UK

LG says the video doorbell will be on sale in the UK from December 2026. Apple says the Home Collection starts in December, with “select accessories” following in early 2027, and has not given a day.

Specifications

Power and UK part numbers come from Apple’s UK store page. The other values come from LG’s US page for the US model, because LG has no UK product page yet, and the UK model may differ.

Other apps

You do not need LG ThinQ. Apple says setup and use need no other app or account. LG says its US and Canadian range also works with the ThinQ app, but it does not say whether that applies to the UK models.

More cameras in the collection: the LG Floodlight Cam, the LG Outdoor Cam Plug-in and the LG Indoor Cam Plug-in. Every HomeKit doorbell in the directory is on the doorbells page.
