LG Outdoor Cam Plug-in (Apple Home Collection)
The LG Outdoor Cam Plug-in is part of the Apple Home Collection. LG makes it and Apple sells it, at apple.com/uk/store, in the Apple Store app and in Apple Store locations. Apple’s UK price starts at £279.95, in Essence Graphite or Essence Silver.
You set it up with a single tap of an iPhone, and Apple says there is “no additional app to download and no separate account to create”. The pairing uses NFC and needs an iPhone running the latest software.
What it does in Apple Home
It is an outdoor camera that plugs in for power. Apple says it has low-light colour night vision and can be angled easily, for flexible coverage outside.
Apple says every camera in the collection records at up to 2.5K, recognises people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages, and keeps recording to built-in storage if the Wi-Fi goes down. Every Home Collection device also supports Thread, which Apple says helps it stay connected when Wi-Fi drops, and each one updates its own network details if you change your Wi-Fi.
You need a home hub
Plan on a home hub. The two companies word it differently:
- LG: “Use of the new IoT products requires an Apple home hub, like HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K or Apple HomeView.”
- Apple: “Additional features vary by accessory and require a compatible home hub such as Apple HomeView, HomePod or Apple TV.”
Either way, the camera features (recording, recognition and video history) depend on one. Apple describes the cameras as a way to monitor your home “when using a home hub”. The current hubs are Apple HomeView, HomePod mini 2, HomePod (2nd generation) and Apple TV 4K (4th generation).
Recording needs iCloud+
The camera supports HomeKit Secure Video, so recordings go to your iCloud+ plan. There is no separate camera subscription. Apple says footage is processed on your home hub or in Private Cloud Compute, then stored encrypted in iCloud for 10 days. The video does not count against your iCloud storage.
The plan sets how many cameras can record:
| iCloud+ plan (UK) | Price | Cameras |
|---|---|---|
| 50GB | £0.99 a month | 1 |
| 200GB | £2.99 a month | Up to 5 |
| 2TB | £8.99 a month | Unlimited |
| 6TB | £26.99 a month | Unlimited |
| 12TB | £54.99 a month | Unlimited |
Apple’s newer video features, such as summaries of what happened and search by description, need an Apple Intelligence iPhone or iPad, an eligible iCloud+ plan and a hub on the latest software. Apple says they work on “a limited number of cameras” depending on the plan, and gives no numbers.
When it arrives in the UK
LG says outdoor cameras will be on sale in the UK from December 2026. Apple says the Home Collection starts in December, with “select accessories” following in early 2027, and has not given a day.
Installation
Apple and LG disagree here. Apple calls it “simple self-installation”. LG’s US page says “Professional installation recommended.”
Specifications
UK part numbers and box contents come from Apple’s UK store page. The other values come from LG’s US page for the US model, because LG has no UK product page yet, and the UK model may differ.
Check the power supply before you buy. Apple’s UK store page lists no power adapter, cable or cord in the box, and gives no power source. The US model comes with an adapter and a US-type power cord.

More cameras in the collection: the LG Floodlight Cam, the LG Indoor Cam Plug-in and the LG Video Doorbell Wired. Every HomeKit camera in the directory is on the cameras page.
