Does Ring Work with Apple Home?

No. Ring doorbells and cameras do not work with Apple Home. They do not support HomeKit and they do not support Matter, so there is no setting, update or setup code that adds a Ring doorbell to the Home app. The Ring app works on an iPhone; the Home app cannot see the doorbell.

If you want the doorbell in the Home app — its picture on your Apple TV, its chime on your HomePod, its button in your automations — you need a doorbell made for Apple Home. Our list of HomeKit doorbells is short, because the real list is short.

Ring has promised HomeKit before

Ring said more than once that HomeKit support was coming to its doorbells. The last public word was in June 2018, when Ring’s Twitter account said it was “still eager to introduce HomeKit, but don’t have a launch date”. Nothing followed. Ring is owned by Amazon, and its products are built around the Ring app and Alexa.

Matter will not fix it yet

Matter 1.5, finalised in November 2025, is the first version of Matter that covers cameras and doorbells. Two things stand between it and a Ring doorbell in the Home app:

  • Ring has not certified a camera or doorbell for Matter. It was absent from the Matter camera certifications reported in June 2026.
  • Apple Home does not support Matter cameras. Apple announced no Matter camera support for iOS 27 at WWDC in June 2026. A camera in the Home app still has to be a HomeKit camera.

Both would have to change. Neither company has given a date.

The unofficial route: Homebridge

homebridge-ring is a community plugin that brings Ring devices into HomeKit through Homebridge, software you run on a computer or Raspberry Pi that stays switched on. Its own documentation calls it unofficial. Neither Ring nor Apple supports it, and it depends on a Ring service that Ring can change at any time.

It is a reasonable project if you already run Homebridge and already own a Ring doorbell. It is not a reason to buy a Ring doorbell for an Apple home.
