Does Hive Work with Apple Home?

Yes. Hive says its thermostat “works with Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit and Siri Shortcuts”. It needs a Hive hub, and you link it to Apple Home from the Hive app — there is no setup code to scan in the Home app.

Hive added HomeKit in 2018 for its heating, lights and plugs.

What you need

  • A Hive hub. Hive’s current thermostat kits include the Hive Nano 3 hub. A thermostat sold without a hub will not reach Apple Home on its own.
  • The Hive app. Hive’s own instructions add HomeKit from inside the Hive app. Scanning the thermostat in the Home app does not find it.
  • An Apple home hub — a HomePod or Apple TV — if you want automations and control away from home. See which Apple home hub you need.

What has not been included

When Hive launched HomeKit support in 2018, two things were left out:

  • Hot water. On a conventional boiler with a cylinder, HomeKit controlled the heating but not the hot water.
  • The Hive Wired Thermostat.

Hive’s current product page does not say whether that has changed. Plan on setting hot water schedules in the Hive app.

Hive’s security range — Hive View cameras, HomeShield and leak sensors — was withdrawn from sale in 2022 and switched off by August 2025. Those never worked with Apple Home and no longer work at all.

Hive or something else?

If hot water control in the Home app matters to you, or you want radiator-by-radiator control, compare tado°, Netatmo and Eve Thermo on the thermostats page. Drayton Wiser now reaches Apple Home through Matter and puts each radiator valve in the Home app as its own zone.

All the Hive devices we list are on the Hive brand page.
